The village is bisected by the road but interestingly, whilst there is some frontage development, the main parts of the village are in a cluster to the south side of the road and then further along the A64 to the northern part, along Carr House Lane.
The southern cluster incorporates a variety of dwelling types, including smallholdings and a triangular green fronting the A64. To the rear of the cluster is St Andrews Church. The dwellings along Carr House Lane are post war semi detached and more modern detached dwellings.
On the eastern extremity of the village is The Snooty Fox, a motel and function room. Next to this is a car dealer and scooter dealer.
